Men versus women: Make me laugh vs laugh at me

Men have proven time and time again that they are really into women who smile. In fact, the distance between a man and a woman in an elevator decreases if the woman enters the elevator smiling, according to Psychology Today. Even in a bar, the number of men who approached one smiling woman was five times higher than when she didn’t smile (11 versus 2). Apparently women who wonder why that one guy she likes isn’t paying enough attention to her needs to make eye contact and smile at him. (Too bad this isn’t going to work out too well if she’s wearing a face mask. She better learn to smize.)

And apparently women have a similar opinion regarding friendly faces, only there’s leans more toward not just a smile but people flat-out laughing with a man. The Psychology Today post also confirms that women were three times more likely to give their phone number to a man who told jokes, versus one who did not. Humorous men were labeled as more attractive, intelligent, funny and sociable.
Why tickling her funny bone is so sexy
According to The Atlantic, funny people are more likely to be smart. Even something as simple (or hard) as writing captions can be ranked for humor, and a New Yorker study noted that those with the funniest captions were also high scorers on intelligence tests.
